> Boston Byte < The average litter size for a Boston Terrier is 3 puppies. The average birth-weight of a Boston puppy is about 8 ounces. Bostons are born with a full coat of fur after only 63 days of gestation. Boston puppies are born with no pigment on their noses, lips, or toes. Within 24 hours, tiny black specks appear as the dark pigment takes its proper places. Bostons are also born without whiskers or eyebrows!
> Boo Byte < Boo was one of a litter of two female puppies. Sadly, Boo's sister didn't survive the birth. Boo weighed approximately 9 ounces at birth. At 17 days old, Boo weighed over 1 pound, 9 1/2 ounces. At three weeks of age, Boo can sit up, wobble-walk, growl, howl, & bark. She has blue eyes that will gradually change to dark brown.
> Boston Byte < Puppies' eyes begin to open at around 10 days of age. Their ears remain sealed until they are about 3 weeks old. It takes about 3 weeks before puppies can potty without mom's licking.

Just a few minutes after the photo at left was taken, Boo aspirated her does of antibiotic & suffered a respiratory arrest. We rushed her to our local emergency animal hospital where, within moments of arrival, she arrested once more. Boo spent 25 hours in Intensive Care, but is now home. She is currently receiving antibiotic/steroid injections every 12 hours to combat the original infection as well as the aspiration pneumonia. At this writing (12/9/06), she is improving & gaining strength. Thanks so much for all of your prayers & notes!

> Boston Byte < When it comes to reproduction, it is impossible to eliminate every defect. The percentage of puppies born with defects closely correlates with human births. A breeder can expect about 1 in every 8 puppies to have some sort of anomaly, whether it is invisible & a non-issue, or a life-threatening condition that can be corrected or the puppy euthanized humanely.
